Organizing Your Perfect Wedding

Friday, June 12th, 2009

If you are planning a wedding then you should know the wedding planning timelines.

It can take up to one year to plan a wedding, depending on when and where it is to be held.

wholesale wedding decorations, yourself wedding decorations
One year before

First, a date must be set for the wedding. If it is to be held in the most popular months, May, June, July or August, a year ahead is not too early to start reserving the church, and lining up the members you wish in the wedding party. Establish the budget. If you are using a florist, start getting estimates of floral arrangements for tables and church. You will also need to decide styles of corsages, boutonnires and whether or not to have a flower girl with rose petals to strew in the bride’s path. Decide on a theme for your wedding.

Six to Nine Months before

Reserve a banquet hall and hire a band. You will need to enter into a legal contract with the band so you will not find yourself without music at the last minute. Make arrangements for your soloist for your wedding ceremony. Locate a photographer and establish numbers of pictures desired. It is time to shop for your wedding dress and bridesmaid’s dresses, and start getting estimates on tuxedo rentals.

Three to Six Months before

Decide on the number of guests to be invited. Contact various printers in your area to get prices and decide on the style of invitations. Order your invitations. Contact the tuxedo rental store to make a commitment to rent from them. Contact the florist you have chosen and make a commitment to purchase from them. Decide on the banquet menu and get estimates from caterers. Make a commitment to the chosen one. If you need to have a bakery provide the cake, it is time to get that ordered also.

Two to Three Months before

Register at your favorite stores. Shop for the wedding accessories you will need, such as wedding guest books, wine glasses for the ceremonial toast, cake knife, gifts for wedding party, wedding favors and table centerpieces. Pick up your invitations from the printer and get them addressed. Check in with your florist, caterer, photographer, church, band, etc. to be sure all is on track. Solve any problems. Try on dresses to see if alternations are needed. Try on tuxedos.

Make arrangements for rehearsal dinner. It is time to mail the wedding invitations. Arrange for wedding rehearsal with church and minister. Attend showers.

One Week before

It is time for the rehearsal. After the rehearsal, enjoy the company of the wedding party at dinner.

One Day before

Gather all dresses, tuxedos, reception decorations, etc. and deliver them to the church or banquet hall. Get hairdos. Tomorrow is the big day.

How to Choose a Wedding Theme

Friday, June 12th, 2009

beach wedding decorations, outdoor wedding decorations

You will probably need to choose your wedding theme what you starting planning for your big day. The choices for your other wedding items such as invitation and gown will probably follow the theme so that your wedding can become a whole unique event. In fact, there are quite a number of different themes you can choose from. Some of the most popular choices are beach wedding and winter theme wedding. In this article, tips about choosing the theme will be discussed.

You will first of all consider the season and time of the year you will have your wedding. It will be nonsense to plan for a winter white wedding if you are going to host it in summer. Considering the season, you may even try to relate your big day to the festivals. One of the most obvious possibilities is certainly Christmas. If you are going to have your big day on the Christmas day, you can certainly make your wedding ceremony and reception a Christmas party. Adding some seasonal favors to your wedding can make your big day more unique.

You will also need to choose between the notions of formal and informal wedding. Some couples will believe that a wedding should always be a formal event and it makes no sense to plan for an informal one. On the contrary, some other couples may think that the essence of a wedding is sharing the joy and happiness withwholesale wedding decorations, outdoor wedding decorationstheir beloved ones. As a consequence, these couples may go for a more informal wedding. Once you make your decision on this matter, it will be quite difficult for you to change. It can be a mess if you change your mind at the middle of your wedding planning. For example, you may need to pay extra if you have originally ordered your wedding invitation in a formal style but you change it to an informal design when it is being printed.

Besides the choice between formal and informal, you will also need to consider if you want a traditional or modern wedding. You may choose to have your wedding in a church and this will most probably be more traditional. In this case your choice of wedding gown may also be more traditional. Since all the traditional choices are usually well developed, you may somehow find it easier to plan for a traditional wedding. However, some couples nowadays may want to go for something different and unique so that the big day reflects the life style of them.

The budget is also an important consideration when you are choosing your theme. If you are on budget, you may choose a theme which can help to save you money. A beach wedding is considered a more economical choice of theme. Of course there are always ways to save money no matter what your theme is. However, no one can deny that some themes may render a cheaper wedding. As a result, you may need to avoid themes that will certainly cost you more if you are not planning to spend so much money.

Steps To Your Perfect Wedding

Step 1: Budget. When planning your budget you will need to decide which of these items you want to include in your wedding and how much money to spend on each.

Step 2: Size. The size of your guest list will depend on personal preference and budget. Some brides dream of a huge wedding with 300 guests, while others prefer an intimate ceremony with only close friends and family. We settled on 100 guests–large enough to invite who we really wanted to come and small enough that it still felt personal.

Step 3: Planning and Scheduling. Planning and follow-up are the most important factors in getting the wedding you want. That beautiful atrium in the park is probably booked years in advance as are many beautiful, old churches. Even if you are planning to get married in your own church and use its reception hall, you’ll need to find out about fees and availability. Research reception locations by looking in local bridal magazines, newspaper bridal sections and online. If a friend or family member has a beautiful back yard, you may want to have your wedding there. It would make an excellent wedding present. Choosing the locations of your ceremony and reception should be the first thing you do after settling on a budget. You can not plan or schedule anything until you know when and where everything will happen.

Step 4: Food and Alcohol. The food you give your guests does not have to be expensive. They are there to witness your marriage and celebrate with you. If you serve Chicken Francaise instead of Filet Mignon they will not enjoy themselves less. For drinks, you have many options. You may decide not to serve alcohol. Or, you may serve one or two special drinks-you can even name one after yourself and your groom. You may also decide to offer an open bar. Remember that alcohol can eat up a large portion of your budget. Talk to the caterer about your options.

Step 5: Wedding Party. The size of your wedding party should match the size of your wedding. If you have 300 guests, 10 bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen will fit right in. But, if you have 80 guests in a small church, it may look comical trying to fit those 20 attendants on the small church alter.

Step 6: Music. If you are having a church wedding, ask the priest or pastor if he can recommend someone to play the ceremony music. Or, you may know someone who could play at your wedding as a wedding gift. For your reception, should you choose a band or a DJ? Having a live band at your reception can be special, but expensive. We chose to have a DJ, not just for the savings but because he could play any song and it would sound great. Whatever you choose, go over what is required. Are there any songs you DO NOT want played? Do you want the DJ or musician to introduce the wedding party, start off the first dance, and announce when it is time to cut the cake? Often this is included, if not-speak to whoever is in charge of your reception location and find out if they offer this service.

Step 7: Traditions. Some couples disregard traditions. Other couples want to include them or even start their own. The biggest tradition is probably the bride carrying "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue." But, there are many other traditions you can incorporate. If you don’t wear your mother’s wedding dress, you may want to pin a piece of its lace onto your slip or tie it around your bouquet. You can wrap a family locket around your bouquet with pictures of you and your groom. I attached my mother’s antique brooch, which had been handed down from my grandmother, to a chain and wore it as a necklace. It made me feel as if they were with me on my wedding day and it meant a lot.

Step 8: Invitations. Invitations are another item that can be surprisingly expensive. They don’t have to be. I knew exactly what type of invitation I wanted, but at a stationer, it would have cost $800 to $1000. I did a lot of searching online and was able to order two less expensive sets of invitations, put them together how I wanted and ended up spending less than $400. Places like Staples and Michael’s also have nice invitations that you can print yourself at home for less than $100.

Step 9: Photographer. This is where we spent a bigger portion of our budget (Only the reception location, with food included, cost more). Even if our wedding was the best wedding in the world, it would only last for a few hours. With good pictures, we could relive it over and over. When you look for a photographer, ask questions. Who will be the photographer? What if he is sick? If you hire a company that has several photographers you may be shown sample wedding photographs from the best photographer. You sign up. Then on your wedding day "your" photographer can’t make it and someone else shows up-someone probably much less talented. Also, ask if the photographer will shoot in color, black and white, or both. Will he shoot traditional shots, photojournalism, or both? Will you be able to keep the proofs? Can you buy the negatives? How much time will the photographer spend at your wedding? Will he also take photos of the bride and groom preparing for the wedding?

Wedding Table Decorations, wedding ceremony decorations
Step 10: Dress. Some brides feel they need to spend a lot of money on "the dress." My husband thought my dress would be the biggest expense, but it was one of the smallest. The dress I fell in love with happened to be on sale because it was discontinued. It was just my size! I didn’t even need alterations. How often does that happen?! Even if you are not that lucky, there are thousands of beautiful wedding dresses between $150 and $850. Check out the large bridal stores as well as your local bridal shops. If you like tradition, you can wear your mother’s wedding dress and have it altered to fit your style. You want to love your wedding dress, but remember-you will only wear it one time for about 8 hours.

Step 11: Flowers. Choose flowers that match your wedding colors. Your local florist can make suggestions and tell which flowers will be in season (they will be less expensive). The flower arrangements were one thing I should have followed-up on with a second meeting. I told the florist exactly what I wanted for my bridal bouquet-deep red roses, no greenery, long matching ribbons (which I provided), and how I wanted the roses gathered. I even gave her a picture. We also discussed the attendants’ bouquets and flowers for the reception tables. The day of the wedding, the attendants’ flowers were more beautiful than I imagined and the table flowers were gorgeous. My bridal bouquet was almost nothing like what I had asked for. I had red roses, but also plenty of greenery, no ribbons, and an ugly plastic piece that held the flowers. The wedding was in an hour and there was nothing I could do. I tried to put it out of my mind and concentrated on everything else that was wonderful about that day. Remember-follow up is one of the most important factors in getting the wedding you want.

Step 12: Hair & Makeup. Many brides go to a salon and have their hair and makeup done. If you do, have a trial run so you know you will be happy with the results on your wedding day. Going to a salon is not a necessity. You may decide to do your own hair and makeup or have a friend do it. You can schedule practice sessions and try several hairstyles to get it perfect.

Step 13: Cake. Many reception halls provide the wedding cake. Mine did. However, I was not happy with my choices. They agreed to make the red velvet cake I requested, but not the decoration I wanted. I had seen exactly what I wanted in a wedding magazine so I called the bakery listed in the back. The baker was able to make the decoration (without the cake) and ship it to my reception hall. The nice people at the hall, accepted the shipment and put the decoration on the cake. It was perfect! If you plan to do something like this, make sure everyone involved is willing to do their part. Then follow through and make sure the shipment is sent, that it arrives, and that the cake maker knows how to arrange the decorations (give her a picture).

Step 14: Favors. These little mementos are small tokens of appreciation to your guests for sharing in your special day. There are many options to choose from. You can give something that matches the theme of your wedding, such as starfish wine stoppers if you are having a beach wedding. Or, you can give something that symbolizes the love you share with your new husband such as a scented candle with the monogram you share as a couple. You can give something edible such as the traditional chocolate covered almonds, or you can make your own favors. Just try to give something your guests will appreciate and use. A wine glass with your and your groom’s name and wedding date may be pretty, but not very practical to a guest.

Step 15: Relax! You’ve done the research. You’ve done the planning. You’ve done the shopping and creating. And, you’ve done the follow-up. It’s now time to relax and enjoy the day. Don’t worry about the little things that go wrong-because something will go wrong (remember my wedding bouquet?). The important thing is that at the end of the day-after the ceremony that is witnessed by your friends and family, after the dancing and laughing and partying-you will be married. You and your groom are starting your new life together. That’s the most important thing.

Outdoor Wedding Decorating Ideas

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Spring is a great time for new beginnings, especially for starting a new life with someone special. What better way to celebrate than to incorporate a spring theme into your wedding decorating! A few simple touches are all it takes to have a big impact. After a dull winter, your guests will appreciate a bright and happy occasion.

gazebo wedding decorations, outdoor wedding decorations Popular colors for a sping wedding are pastels, so keep this in mind when shopping for your bridal party and for your decorations. If you want a darker color for your bridesmaid dresses, try using the same color in a lighter shade for the wedding flowers and centerpieces. The contrast will add freshness to your big day while making everything look smart and well coordinated. Try not to use too many different pastel colors together unless you’re planning an Easter wedding. Some great color choices are: pink or rose, light blue, yellow, lavender, and a soft green. Some good color combinations include rose and lavender, lavender and light blue, or yellow and soft green. Using colors that are close to each other on the color scale will give a softer look to your day, while using opposites will create bolder combinations.

Other than color, some easy ways to add spring to your wedding are:

- Use potted bulbs in your decorations. They can be used to decorate your ceremony, as centerpieces at your reception, and on the gift and cake tables. Just make sure to choose bulbs whose flowers aren’t heavily scented in case any of your guests have allergies. A lot of scent in a closed in room can have people looking for fresh air very quickly. Daffodils and tulips are great choices and are available in a variety of colors. You don’t need to have the same flower at every table, and using a variety can make your decorating more interesting for your guests.

- Other seasonal flowers that can be used as cut flowers are lilacs, pansies, and freesias, but again be careful with heavy scents. Lilacs smell beautiful, but some are more scented than others.

- Spring is the time when many people start thinking about planting their gardens. Consider giving away flower or tree seeds in decorative seed packets as a wedding favor. The seeds can be for your favorite plant, or for one that has significance to your family. If I were planning a spring wedding, I would give away apricot tree seeds as a subtle reminder of my grandmother and the apricot tree on her farm that used to always be in bloom for her birthday in May.

- Small trees can also be used as centerpieces or used as favors. Choose ones that are about a foot high so they don’t block out everything at your wedding. If using them as centerpieces, plant them in decorative pots and include some planting instructions. For favors, they can be placed on a side table so they aren’t in the way during dinner. An announcement can be made after the speeches that they are for the guests to take home. Tie a note of thanks around their base with some raffia as an added touch.

Using color and seasonal flowers you can give your wedding a spring-time feeling without going to a lot of extra time or expense. Think spring and have fun decorating for your wedding!

Great Ideas for Wedding Receptions

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Wedding decorations are not about the amount of money you spend but the perfect ambiance of beauty romance and elegance created at the wedding venue.

Wedding Decoration Ideas, Wedding Ceremony Decoration

Somewhere there waiteth in this world of ours
for one lone soul, another lonely soul -
Each chasing each through all the weary hours,
And meeting strangely at one sudden goal;
Then blend they - like green leaves with golden flowers,
Into one beautiful and perfect whole -
And life’s long night is ended, and the way
Lies open onward to eternal day.
~ Sir Edwin Arnold

One of my most favorite wedding scenes from movies has to be the one in Runaway Bride where the marriage-phobic bride (Julia Roberts) gets married to the love of her life (Richard Gere) on a tranquil green hill with the Pastor, the bride and the groom being the only people involved in the ceremony. Most of the weddings that we’ve seen on television or in films are beautifully crafted, and hence seem utterly romantic no matter how big or small the wedding is.

Some couples like their wedding to be a huge celebration or a grant fiesta whereas some couples prefer to keep it a hush-hush affair with a small guest list and a modest venue. No matter how grand your wedding is or how modest you want it to be wedding decorations still remain to be one of the important elements, which need to be taken care of while planning a wedding.

White satin curtains, fragrant beautiful flowers, elegant chandeliers, glowing candle stands and love in the air…Wedding decorations are about all this and much more. No matter how big or small your wedding, the wedding venue has to be decorated well to create the perfect ambiance where the two soul-mates can walk down the aisle and pledge their eternal love for each other.

Wedding decorations include decoration of the entire venue with attention twedding reception ideaso every detail like decoration of the entrance, the aisle, the chairs, the centerpieces, the walls, the food, the flowers, the lighting and the wedding favors as well. Wedding decorations can be a hectic task and while some people want to give it a personal touch and do it on their own, others prefer to hire the experts and leave the job to professional decorators or wedding planners.

No matter which option you choose for wedding decorations, make sure that the decorations match the overall theme of the wedding and are done with the consent of the bride and the groom. Wedding decorations should be beautiful, functional and elegant. Thinking on the lines of ‘more is less’ principle can be a great idea while decorating a wedding venue since too much or over-the-top decorations can be very distractive.

Many couples like to build their wedding around a favorite theme for example a medieval wedding, a spring wedding, or a Victorian wedding according to your tastes and liking. Choose your theme and if you do not want to pick a specific theme just pick a color scheme and build your wedding decorations around it.

Wedding reception table decorations, wedding receptin ideas
Make you wedding decorations stylish and innovative. Concentrate on the lighting of the venue since lighting can affect the quality of your wedding photographs. Make sure the flower decorations are minimal and elegant. Stick to a color scheme while planning the wedding decorations in order to incorporate a sense of harmony in all the decorations. Make sure you get stylish place card holders, table napkins, candle stands, and cutlery sets that match the wedding theme.

Remember that wedding decorations help to make the wedding venue more beautiful and hence memorable however always remember that it is not the amount of money you spend but the kind of decorating ideas that you incorporate help to transform an ordinary venue into a beautiful and romantic place for the wedding.

Garden Gazebos And Summerhouses

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

These days, gazebos and summerhouses have grown so popular in UK that they are as almost as common as cars.

The wgarden gazebo, gazebo kitsord ‘gazebo’ is not a single word; it has got a very colourful history behind. The word ‘gazebo’ first came into view in the book published in 1972 by an architect named William Halfpenny. The book was called "New Design For Chinese Temples". Later it was hypothesized that Halfpenny made-up the word playfully by adding the Latin ending -ebo, as in videbo (’I shall see’) to the word ‘gaze’ to get the meaning ‘I will look.’

Nowadays gazebos have taken many forms. Throughout its colourful journey gazebos have been known as summerhouses, screen houses, kiosks, pavilions, pergolas, arbores, grottos, and pagodas.

The summer of UK is believed to be very unpredictable like as share markets. The temperature arbitrarily changes during summer. So if one thinks of a rendezvous in the garden, all that is needed is a reliable garden shelter.  People use gazebos and summerhouses to enjoy the beauty of a garden, some use gazebos gazebo kits, gazebo plansand summerhouses as centres of lavish entertainment. Gazebos and summerhouse are places where one can relax and communicate with nature.  Gazebos and summerhouses really provide a touch of elegance and grace to your garden.  Several types of materials can be used in constructing gazebos.  Wood is one of such materials, which are used for a construction of gazebos and summerhouses. Western red cedar wood for example is very durable as it has natural oils that protect the wood from decay.  Pinewood is also highly resistant to decay and insect damages.  These materials make gazebos and summerhouses sturdy and long lasting.  And undoubtedly, gazebos and summerhouses add a new dimension to your landscape.

Wedding Reception Decorating From Beginning to End

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

When decorating your wedding reception you should pay as much attention to the basics as to the advanced stuff.

wedding ceremony decoration, wedding table decorations

When it comes to decorating your wedding reception, it is said that the end result is only limited by your imagination. While this is perfectly true, what with all the themes, venues and other things available today, there are still some rudimentary details every reception will need to have. I’d like to discuss one of these details in this article. To be more exact, the very thing your guests will be sitting at during a large portion of the evening, the tables of the wedding reception.

Indeed, something present at all receptions are the tables where your guests will be seated. Selecting the right size of table and placing them in a way that will be easy to "navigate" for all those present is of the utmost importance. When it comes to table linens you should also keep in mind that the table/linen size ratio will help determine the overall look. Having a tablecloth with a very long overhang may prove less than ideal as it easily gets wrapped around the legs of those seated at the table. Especially for a disable guest in a wheelchair this is something you need to pay attention to.

From a very simple approach to very intricate, there are suitable decoration for wedding reception tables of any style imaginable. Here are a couple of ideas, just to get your mind racing with options that will go nicely with the them you have selected. wedding reception table decorations

  Simple napkin rings
These can be easily made by using ordinary toilet paper rolls, with fabric of a suitable color glued on. The paper rolls will ensure the right shape of the napkin rings and the fabric should be straightforward enough to pick out in a design that will complement the rest of your decor.

Use fruits
Fruits are a simply but wonderful way to decorate your reception tables, especially used as centerpieces.

The fruits should of course be picked in a color that matches the overall look of the occasion. Citrus fruits for example are a perfect match for shades of yellow, green and orange, while apples, grapes and pomegranates will accompany reds, purples and pinks perfectly.

Purchase the fruit only the day before the wedding so that it will not spoil. Place it in bowls at the center of each table, using tissue paper or greenery to fill out empty space. As an added bonus, if your guests do not eat all the fruit on the occasion, you can give the fruit as well as the bowls as presents for your guests.

The above was some rather simple aspects of decorating your wedding aspects. You need to keep in mind however, that getting the basics right is sometimes more important than overly focusing on stunning effects while forgetting about the essential elements of a great reception.

Wedding arches are also as important as any other feature when planning for a weddinwedding arch decorations, outdoor wedding decorationsg. Most wedding arches are fancy in its appearance but you can give a personal touch to such wedding arches as well. Decorating wedding arches may require some concentration and time from your side, but the end results are bound to make it worth the effort. Wedding arch decoration can be fancy and really decorative or elaborate, as per your personal preferences and tastes. Personalizing and planning for decorative arches for the wedding can be a fun affair and can give you the satisfaction of having a very unique piece and not something that is commonly available for most weddings. After all, with all the incessant planning for the wedding, wedding arches also need some creative thought as well. Decorating wedding arches gives you the freedom to plan as per the kind of wedding you are planning to have. This is dependant upon certain factors.

Factors involved for Decorating Wedding Arches:
Decorating wedding arches would require you to consider the colors used for the interior designing and dcor of the wedding. You would also need to know about the theme of the wedding. Wedding arches are available in many different types and these can be decorated with ease to match the other features of the wedding. These are also available in various materials such as wood, iron etc., which are in also in varied hues and heights as well. Antique looking arches look great for an English garden. Abstract designs look best for modern weddings.

What about the location of your wedding? Is this planned in the outdoors? Where the wedding will take place will also be the deciding factor for wedding arches. Think about the season as well. Decorating wedding arches would also require you to keep in mind what is the season because your decoration can also go hand-in-hand to suit the mood of the particular season. The colors of the season can be successfully implemented in the wedding arches. This would help to add to the mood of the event as well.
wedding ceremony decorations, wedding reception decorations
Plan the exact location of the wedding arch. This would help you to judge the kind of decoration you would need for the wedding arches as well. This can be placed at the front of the aisle or even at the back. Wedding arches also provide to be a good backdrop for group pictures and add to the beauty of the photograph.

Ideas for Decorating Wedding Arches:
Wedding balloon arches are quite popular owing to the happy and fun environment they create. Such kind of wedding balloon arches need to be done up on the day of the wedding. You can look for professional help in the city or even have helium filled balloons with the help of enthusiastic family members or friends.

Floral wedding arches are another such option. The season would also help in deciding the kind of flowers you would need to use. If it is springtime and your wedding is in the outdoors, you can add bright colors and choose a white lattice arch, which can help you weave your flowers easily. Picture the grand floral wedding arch, in soothing shades of pinks and white, with a dab of red in between and green intertwined through these flowers. Floral arches would require the help of a professional but these are one of the best ways to have a romantic and quaint touch to the entire atmosphere. Charming, pretty and ultra stylish as well, floral wedding arches sure do make a statement.

Have you always been a beach bum? Need to try something different for your wedding? The beach theme is very popular and nothing can be better than having wedding arches that go along with this theme. People who cannot actually celebrate on the beach itself, often compromise by decking up the place to resemble one. Sand, bottles, shells…all add to the atmosphere and the setting. Add some of these to the wedding arches and see this become the most attractive feature of the wedding. Add some ribbons and organza that will give a romantic touch. If the wedding is at the beach, you need to consider the sudden gusts of the wind that can uproot your wedding arch! Look for a sturdy arch in such cases and accessorize it with elements that can be secured tightly.

In case of a garden wedding, flowers would again be the most preferred option. Loads of fresh flowers, ivy, organza and ribbons with other such climbing plants all help to add to the green look! You can even try and add some texture to the wedding arches. This can be done easily by attaching some branches or vines to the arch. These are available in the craft stores as well.

Wedding arches help to add beauty to the location. Decorating wedding arches would need you to seek help from professionals as well as family members, at times. Begin your planning in advance, as this would also help you to get things streamlined by the time your wedding date arrives. Use your creativity in the best way possible.

For the Love of Gazebos!

Friday, May 15th, 2009

There’s no question about it - America has fallen in love with gazebos.

patio gazebo gazebo kitsIf you have any doubt, just look around. You’ll see them in backyards, front yards, and side yards, in public parks, overlooking rivers, lakes, and ponds, standing alone, or integrated with decks. Indeed, the gazebo is no longer just a backyard decoration. Over the years, as its popularity has increased, people have been coming up with hundreds of new uses for it. At the same time, its image as a fair-weather structure has also been changing; the gazebo is now a building for all seasons.
Everyone has different ideas about gazebos. Many people look upon them as their personal sanctuaries, where they can enjoy their gardens, catch up on some reading, or simply take a nap. Some like to use their gazebos for hosting parties, dinners, brunches, and weddings. For others, gazebos are like extra rooms that are separate from their houses. Then, there are those who turn them into summerhouses, cottages, guesthouses, or home offices.
No matter what use you have in mind for your gazebo, the good news is that you don’t have to abandon it when the weather gets cold. These days, it’s very common for gazebos to be equipped with electricity, plumbing, heating, hot tubs, ceiling fans, special lighting, insulation, storm windows, and every other amenity that you would expect to find in a house.
Another great thing about the year-round gazebo is that, with a bit of creative decorating, its beauty can be renewed time and again throughout the year. On special occasions, such as weddings, a gazebo can be turned into a fairytale vision, when it is lavishly adorned with white ribbons, roses, carnations, and baby’s breath, along with the wedding theme colors.
Beyond the monumental events, a few seasonal decorations can turn your gazebo into a spectacular showplace. In the springtime, hanging baskets and planters of flowers are a beautiful way to welcome the warmer weather. Many people also add pastel bows and decorative flags for Easter. In the summer, some simple red, white, and blue crepe paper streamers and ribbons, along with Old Glory, will turn your gazebo into a picturesque focal point for an old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration.

Garden Gazebo, Gazebo Plans When autumn comes around, pumpkins, Indian corn, stalks, and russet leaves will have everyone’s thoughts turning to the huge Thanksgiving feast that’s just around the corner. For the ultimate in holiday splendor, however, there is nothing quite as breath-taking - or as nostalgia-provoking - as a gazebo decked with colored lights, holly, pine branches, wreaths, and a Christmas tree. Besides being a fantastic sight to behold, this is also a great site for caroling.
The very best thing about the all-seasons gazebo, however, is the fun you can have finding one at GazeboCreations.com. Their selection includes cedar, pine, and vinyl gazebos in several shapes and sizes. At GazeboCreations.com, you can choose a pre-designed gazebo, or customize one of your own in four easy steps, using their Gazebo Wizard.

The Charm of A Wrought Iron Gazebo

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

If you want to own a unique gazebo with old-fashioned refinement, you might want to check out a wrought iron gazebo. Wrought iron has a beautiful antique look that can add sophistication and elegance to any garden, lawn or yard.

Wrought iron outdoor furniture has been a perennial favorite for its hard-wearing weather resistwrought iron gazebo, gazebo plansance and old world charm. A wrought iron gazebo has the same timeless appeal and durable strength. Yet many people are leery of buying wrought iron outdoor furnishings because it tends to rust on the surface. These days many wrought iron outdoor furnishings are treated with anti-rust coatings during manufacture, then are finished with powdered pigment coatings. Care should be taken not to scratch or damage the finish as the bare metal will likely rust once exposed to the elements. Occasional cleaning with mild soap and water will serve to keep the finish strong and new-looking. The manufacturer may also include care instructions with the wrought iron gazebo that should be carefully followed.

Wrought iron gazebos are usually shipped in pieces. They can be easily assembled and erected following the manufacturer’s instructions. You may want to enlist the help of a friend or two, to speed the job along. You can find wrought iron gazebos in many different shapes and styles to satisfy your desires. You might decide to buy wrought iron furniture to coordinate with your new gazebo and enjoy the soon-to-be heirloom set while dining outdoors with the family or socializing with friends.

You will love how a wrought iron gazebo adds beauty and distinction to your yard or garden. You will have the most unique yard on the block. Located away from the noise of the street and surrounded by lush flowers, trees and garden plants, it will become the perfect place to meditate, relax and get away from the rush and hurry of life.

A Variety Of Outdoor Gazebos

The Different Types Of Outdoor Gazebos

Outdoor gazebos are a common sight in parks, courtyards, gardens and lawn. They are basically structures built in round or octagonal forms with a roof and pillars but no walls; these gazebos make great places to spend time whether it is summer or winter because they provide shade and shelter from wind, sun, rain or snow.

Why Do People Built Outdoor Gazebos

An outdoor garden gazebo, outdoor gazebosgazebo is built mostly to provide a place for various activities for example; if they are built in one’s courtyard children play or elders spend time in the outdoor gazebo during summer playing cards or gathering with friends to chat and have a good time. The outdoor gazebos placed in parks are usually used for many festivities and even bands that play during the summer or winter holidays.

There are also outdoor gazebos build specially for an occasion such as, a wedding ceremony or anniversary; these types of outdoor gazebos are mostly built on the beach upon request and in the style desired.

Different Types Of Outdoor Gazebos

Outdoor gazebos can be made of different types of materials depending on each individual person’s choice such as: cement and mortar, metal, iron, wrought iron and wood. Most gazebos can be built without professional help if you have any carpentry skills, however, if you don’t, professional help is always available.

When investing in a outdoor gazebo remember to ensure that the materials are weather proof because it needs to be able to withstand the scorching sun, rain, wind and snow and if the materials are not treated well they get rusted, which will cost you time and money in the long run. Even wooden gazebos can be treated with special conditioning oils in order to ensure that the wood is strengthened and ready to face any weather. Most gazebo manufacturers will provide you with free advice on weather proof materials for outdoor gazebos and if they don’t, make sure to ask before you invest.

Helpful Tips

Outdoor Wedding Decoration Ideas

Planning to have an outdoor wedding? Here are some decoration ideas for outdoor weddings…

Outdoor Wedding Decorations, Gazebo Wedding Decorations

Remember Phoebe’s wedding in the famous sitcom Friends? I’m sure every sitcom lover would have watched that episode with dreamy eyes, as phoebe and mike walk down the aisle amidst heaps of snow…An unexpected snowfall might not have deterred phoebe’s will to marry mike even though turning blue in her wedding dress due to the freezing cold in her wedding dress, but again, not everyone can be as spontaneous and adorably weird as phoebe. In case you are planning an outdoor wedding, you need to remember that you’ll need to put in extra efforts to ensure the decorations are in place throughout the ceremony.

Decoration Ideas for Outdoor Weddings

There are several things that you need to keep in mind while planning an outdoors wedding and thinking of decoration ideas. Decorations include all the elements of the wedding plan, starting from the wedding venue to the wedding flowers. Given below are some of the factors that need to be taken care of while planning an outdoor wedding.

Weather

In case you are planning an outdoor wedding you have to be extremely cautious about the weather at the wedding venue. You never know when it could rain or snow - Weather can play a spoilsport and ruin all your wedding decorations. An outdoor wedding needs to be planned in an appropriate season when the weather is pleasant. If that is not possible and you are still keen on having an outdoor wedding, you need to take all the precautions to protect the wedding venue from rough weather.

Wedding Venue

The decorations for outdoor weddings also depend on the number of guests and hence the size of the wedding venue. In case you are planning to have the wedding in a park, you need to make sure the venue is not too small or even too big for your guest list. While hunting options for an outdoor wedding venue, the sky is the limit. The wedding venue can be a park, a hill, or even the beach.

Seating Arrangement
outdoor wedding decorations, wedding ceremony decorations
Well, looking for comfortable yet elegant seating arrangements is dicey business in case of an outdoor wedding. You don’t want tablecloths flying off or candles flickering due to wind. You don’t want flower decorations to be ruined and nor do you want your guests to be drenched in rain or frozen in the snow. (Quick Pointer - getting married outdoors when you know it’s going to snow is a really bad idea, unless again if you can pull off a phoebe act.)

Lighting

In case you are having an outdoor wedding, then the lighting is also and important issue. You obviously don’t want to get married in blaring sun, nor do you want to walk the aisle in darkness where you can hardly see each other’s faces. In case there is excessive lighting outdoor you need to balance it out by having temporary shelters, which are not only protective but also decorative. Block out excess light with tents and curtains at the venue. In case you are having a beach wedding then there is nothing that can beat the beach umbrellas.

Accessories and Add-ons

First rule of outdoor wedding decorations - keep things simple. Too many flowers, too much of flowy fabrics might ruin the effect. Pick up elegant and simple furniture that would blend in with the surroundings, for example wooden tables and garden chairs would be perfect for a garden wedding. Use flowers that will last longer. Use decorative items that will not dry out (delicate flowers) or blown away by the wind. Use furniture that is comfortable for the guests, but also easy to transport.

Decoration ideas for outdoor weddings should be such that they can be easily executed without any major hassles. The moonlight, the bright stars, the soothing breeze or the verdant green surroundings, the beauty of nature is splendid without any additional decorations. Always remember to keep things simple and allow the outdoor beauty to take over the wedding decorations rather than the other way round…

Gazebos are Great for Entertaining!

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Summer is on its way and soon we will be entertaining in the backyard. A gazebo is the perfect shade structure to entertain friends, and enjoy as a family.

  outdoor gazebo, gazebo kits

Many people plant a garden and figure that the job is done and there’s nothing more to be gained besides a bit of pleasure from a hobby. Oh, sure, the weeding and tending must be seen to, but the garden is just there to look pretty or give a few vegetables and no more. Maybe you show your friends your garden when they come to visit, but that’s it. It seems a shame that one should work so hard for so little benefit, but it doesn’t take much to turn a simple garden into a wonderful one. With a small amount of extra effort, you could bring your garden to life!

The best way to spice up the backyard is by putting in a gazebo. A gazebo is a shaded sitting structure that is usually placed in the garden as a retreat. There are so many things one can use a gazebo for, and having one built is fairly easy. The gazebo is also a good structure to place hanging pots and plant other shrubs and such around the outside. Just imagine what a gazebo could do for your home’s market value.

A gazebo is much like a small house with no walls. So much can be done in this structure that adds quality to a gardeners’ life, and your home too! With a roof, the weather isn’t a big issue, and you can use your gazebo whenever you want. Put a table in there, and you can invite your friends to sit with you and share coffee and conversation in the morning or enjoy the space in the evening while you have a few drinks outdoors. This is a far better option that sitting in the kitchen staring at the stove, and your friends will be more likely to come over to your house for the next gathering. Spending time outdoors is not something we get to do everyday, so why not take the opportunity? Those visiting your home will appreciate how nice it is to spend time in the yard rather than the kitchen.

Of course, just because something is pretty doesn’t mean it can’t be practical. Such is the case with gazebos. If you or your friends smoke, a gazebo is a wonderful way to keep your house free and clear of odors and cigarette smoke. Also, because the gazebo is generally not connected to the house, it’s a nice place to simply get away from stress or tension for a few minutes. Gazebos are so useful; they can even be therapeutic for relationships!

garden gazebo, patio gazebo
It appears quite obvious that a gazebo has a lot to offer homeowners. The benefits of having a gazebo in your backyard easily outweigh the effort it takes to build one. Better yet a gazebo can add value to your property. So whether you plan on living in your home forever or selling next week, a gazebo has many attractive qualities that are sure to make visitors say "wow."

Wedding on a Budget

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

Some might find this hard to believe, but planning a cheap wedding is quite easy to do. It’s also great fun and can be really unique and creative too! So if you’re planning a cheap wedding in the future, here are some great tips and ideas for you…

1. Cheap Wedding Locations. Planning a cheap wedding location is not impossible. In fact, you can have wedding ceremonies in a variety of places that are completely free. The local park is a great example. There’s usually no cost to go to a public park, angazebo wedding decoration, beach theme wedding favorsd planning a cheap wedding ceremony there doesn’t usually require any permits or other fees either. Double check with your local city authorities just to be sure first of course.

The Beach is another free place to have a wedding ceremony, as is many churches for that matter. Other ideas include: Having your ceremony at a family member’s home, or having the ceremony in your own back yard. If the wedding couple loves nature, it may be free or very inexpensive to have the wedding ceremony at a local zoo, nature reserve, or flower conservatory too.

2. Cheap Wedding Receptions. Planning a cheap wedding reception is not too difficult either. One way to keep the reception super cheap is to make it a pot luck meal. You can have the guests each bring their own dish, and this could be requested in place of having them buy you wedding presents if you’d like.

If you’d rather not ask guests to bring food for your wedding reception, then ask a few family members to get together and cook the food as a wedding gift to you.

Planning a cheap wedding reception should also involve choosing cheap or free locations for the reception too. Try to make the wedding reception co-incide with the ceremony in some way. If you plan to have your wedding ceremony in the gazebo at the park for instance, then plan for the reception to be a barbecue or picnic style event in that same park.

Another easy and cheap example of course, is if you have the wedding ceremony in your home. Then you can plan to have the reception in your home as well, or out in the backyard if the weather is nice. If you’re planning a cheap wedding on the beach, an excellent reception idea is to have a beach party afterwards… bonfire and all.

3. Cheap Wedding Decorations. When planning a cheap wedding you’ll of course need to keep the cost of decorations down as much as possible. You don’t have to go without them completely though, you just need to improvise. wedding reception decorations balloons, wedding decorations with balloons

Instead of buying expensive flowers for instance, try decorating with balloons and streamers instead. Go to a local craft or fabric store and buy a few spools of pretty ribbon, then tie the balloons together with strips of the ribbon done up in a bow. Also tie the ribbons into bows themselves, then tape the ribbon bows around for decorations by themselves.

Another idea for creating cheap table decorations is to simply collect some pretty rocks. Wash them clean, then arrange them creatively on tables or other surfaces. You could even paint the rocks to match your desired wedding color theme.

Here’s a great idea if you’re planning a cheap wedding that will have an outdoor, picnic or barbecue style reception: buy pretty paper plates and napkins instead of using expensive china dishes.

As you can see with just these few ideas, planning a cheap wedding can actually be a lot of fun!

Planning a wedding can be a fun affair if you let your creativity run loose! Wedding themes are getting even more dynamic than before, with many young couples opting for experimentation in terms of decoration and themes.

A wedding under the bright blue skies is very much in demand! Gazebos serve as an ideal location for such weddings. These can be made to look particularly beautiful in the nighttime. Beautiful wedding centerpieces and wedding flowers can be used creatively to achieve the desired effect. Apart from these, there are many other ideas you can incorporate for wedding decorations for the gazebo or even the garden area. Ideas for Gazebo Wedding Decorations

First, you need to plan the theme for your wedding. Beach weddings are particularly in vogue when it comes to outdoor weddings. In case of beach weddings, you can opt for seashells and use colors of the sea (shades of bluish green and warm browns) as a part of the decoration. Choose decorative materials that will withstand the outdoor winds and harsh sunlight.

A decoration can never be complete without bridal flowers. Always includewedding ceremony decorations, beach decorations loads of beautiful flowers to add a romantic touch to the entire setting. Set up elegant wedding centerpieces and potted plants around the gazebo. The potted plants can even be kept alongside the walkway that goes up to the gazebo. Tulles and ribbons can be used all around the base of the gazebo. Ribbons can be hung from the topside with beautiful vines that can encircle the pillars of the gazebo.

If your wedding reception is scheduled for the evening, then you can make the gazebo look really attractive with the use of lights. Dim lighting can turn any setting into a romantic one if done the appropriate way. Look for beautiful and interestingly shaped lanterns but ensure they can withstand strong gusts of wind! You can opt for a string of lights instead, which can be placed around the topside of the gazebo. Add some balloons to the corners of the gazebo.

If you are planning to take the wedding vows inside the gazebo, you must make it look romantic to set the right mood. Use crepe paper to brighten up the sides of the gazebo and scatter rose petals in different colors on the floor.

For the serving area, you can put up a large tent in the outdoors. Decorate the inside area on similar lines to the reception area. Use ribbons and flowers for the chairs. Place soft cushions in pastel shades on the chairs. Use white satin sheets for the tables and add baskets of flowers.

For outdoor settings, one of the most important points would always be to keep your guests comfortable. For this, you need to ensure you use nettings and other preventive measures to keep bugs away!

Use your creativity to the fullest to decorate the gazebo so that it stands out for this very important occasion. If you plan with the wedding budget in mind, it will only help you to take your decisions on a faster note. You can keep it simple yet stylish as per your individual preferences. Have a fun time with the wedding decorations!

The Portable Gazebo

There Are Many Advantages To Having A Portable Gazebo

Most people love a gazebo because it looks so majestic on your yard. However, not everybody likes to have a permanent structure - mostly because different times can mean different uses for the space around your home. Those who prefer the portable gazebo to the regular-styled permanent one, do so because there are so many benefits to it.

The Versatility Of The Portable Gazebo

There are many reasons why people prefer portable gazebos; a few of these reasons (benefits) are listed below:

1. You can use them for anything and everything - all you need to set them up and you have a wonderful place to party, or for a garage sale, or a craft festival - you name it. You can place it anywhere you find suitable. You may like it facing the sun, or away from the sun, facing any particular cardinal point (sometimes this is considered auspicious on certain occasions - say, for a marriage ceremony), etc.

Normally, all you will have to do is get the frame set, install the poles, secure them these with ropes and stakes (as the instructions would say and show) and stretch the canopy over the erected frame. When the party is over, you can disassemble it and store the components where convenient for another time. Your courtyard is and stays as good as new.

3. Ready-made kits - some of these portable gazebo come in exceptionally well engineered kits, which needs nothing but one person to open them out. Once it is open, it becomes the required gazebo - instantly and majestically - wherever you like!

4. The portable gazebos are highly cost effective. There are excellent models of aluminum or canopy gazebos, which come within $100; a wrought iron frame-gazebo and other a little more heavy material in frames and styling, would cost something in the range of US$100-300 - which is less than a fraction of the cost you would need if you were to make this a permanent fixture.

5. You can buy it from anywhere - the portable gazebo is available at all outlets selling sporting goods, general stores, home materials and furnishing warehouses and of course on the Internet. Depending on what you like and where you are, you may choose whichever location is best for you. The Internet, in my opinion, is one of the best choices because besides seeing a good deal of models from all over the world, you can also compare the price and zero on the place(s), which offer most for the least cost.portable gazebo wedding decorations

A Look At Garden Gazebos

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

A garden gazebo is the perfect way to accent your garden. Imagine being able to walk along the path between the koi pond and the flowers, the hedges and the willow tree, pausing to rest on a bench inside a gazebo. Its shade will comfort you, and its architecture will add that special geometric touch to your garden, striking the balance between nature and humanity. No matter what the environment of your garden, there is a garden gazebo out there just waiting to be bought.

In creating a garden gazebo, first choose your material from wood, metal, or vinyl options. Wood is the most common choice, and for good reason: it goes with any natural environment. Wood is available in pine, cedar, and redwood. Pine is the softest wood, ages to a rich yellow, and complements surrounding evergreens. Cedar is higher in overall sturdiness, is less prone to rot, and ages to a gray-brown. American redwood is the darkest, longest-lasting wood. Other woods can be used, but those are the most common.

gazebo wedding decoration Metal gazebos come in cast aluminum or steel and wrought iron. Go with steel and wrought iron if you want your garden gazebo to add a lovely dark and long lasting effect. These gazebos are often open-roofed, and so are great for stocking with plants, climbers, and other materials, making for a lush shade that changes with the seasons. Vinyl comes in white or black. Just as with wood and metal gazebos, they come in a variety of shapes and styles. Get trellis walls for a cottage feeling.
For enhanced usability in harsher weather conditions, get an enclosed garden gazebo. These can be partially enclosed, with partitions and movable screens, or totally enclosed, with solid walls and tinted windows.
Whether looking to expand a large corporate garden, or just to complement a small neighborhood plot, a garden gazebo is an inviting structure for rest, meditation, or meeting up with other people to enjoy the weather.
